Cayce Howe is an experienced meditator who has been practicing for over 25 years. In 2004 he sold his Bay Area home and left a profitable career in order to deepen his experiential understanding of meditation. This led to a committed time of practice, including six years of living and working at meditation retreat centers, a year-long closed meditation retreat, and training through InsightLA.
Since leaving the meditation retreat centers, Cayce has dedicated himself to helping others discover the benefits of meditation. Cayce has a gift and a passion for teaching meditation to others. Whether he is working in a corporate setting, in schools, or with adults of all ages, Cayce is able to connect with and inspire his students.
By day, Cayce teaches in a clinical setting alongside Dr. Claudia Eppele, MD at an anxiety and depression clinic. In addition, Cayce is a senior, founding teacher with InsightLA’s Long Beach branch. Through InsightLA, he leads secular and Buddhist classes including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Meditation, and holds weekly community meditations.
As a result of his dedication and extensive experience, Cayce recently received the great honor of being authorized in the Theravada Buddhist lineage. This authorization places him alongside other great teachers including Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg, and Trudy Goodman. Currently, Cayce is in training to become a Buddhist Chaplain.
In addition to all his work as a meditation guide, Cayce is an artist and a poet. His work embodies the wisdom he has gained through his years of practice.
