Hosts: Cayce Howe with special guest Mary Obeyd of TMS Health and Wellness
Cayce has over 25 years of meditation experience, including 6 years of living and working at meditation retreat centers, a year-long closed meditation retreat. He has and training through InsightLA. In addition to his daily work teaching in a clinical setting for Dr. Claudia Eppele, MD at TMS Clinic, Cayce is a founding teacher with InsightLA’s Long Beach branch. Cayce teaches secular and Buddhist classes, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Meditation, and holds weekly community meditations. He was given formal teacher authorization in the Theravada Buddhist lineage, with renown teachers and lineage holders Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg, and Trudy Goodman presiding over the ceremony.
Mary was born and raised in Southern California. She developed an interest and curiosity in understanding and helping others from a young age, which inevitably led to a Bachelor of Science in Human Services with an emphasis on Mental Health from California State University.
Shortly after, she pursued her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, where she began working with individuals, couples, and families in the therapeutic setting. After a few years of clinical experience, Mary began searching for deeper meaning to suffering. Ultimately this led Mary to search for spirituality in her life. She began traveling and spending time with different cultures, including spending 2 months in Africa and South Africa.
Upon returning home, she spent the next 3 years studying holistic and alternative healing, including earning certifications in yoga, Ayurvedic self-care, and reiki energy healing.
Currently, she works at TMS Health and Wellness, where she is utilizing her passion for helping others suffering from various mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and ADHD. She continues to deepen her understanding of suffering through meditation and studying Buddhism.
